Food stylist and photographer Alexandra Onosa lives in a small town in Germany and defines herself as “a happy gardner, a very curious foodie and an experimental baker, madly in love with sourdough and the “mother” of four different bacterial cultures.” She met with the camera at high school and captured the things she found interesting in nature. Then she continued with her fiancé’s camera. “This is where my adventure begins. I was already passionate about food and coming to Germany had a very important role in all this because Germany is quite green. I suddenly felt very attracted to the idea of growing the food myself, thing that in London was quite impossible. We decided to try for a garden. It turned out I have the green thumbs too, so every year I got more and more passionate about eating healthy and local and I tried more varieties of vegetables and in the end we had to expand the garden. The whole garden dream connected me with the camera.” she states on her blog. When asked why she focused on food photography in an interview, she answered as follows; “Food was the bridge between myself and my family, my friends, food was everywhere in my memories, I even remember many of my family members through food. Once the main subject was decided I simply started photographing it. I had a bit of knowledge about the basics of photography but I was lacking practice. I had my fiancé by my side helping me with the technical details and I just started shooting all sorts of dishes, everywhere and anytime.” Now she can transform everything in some kind of art and captures them brilliantly then shares them on Instagram. Her portfolio is in one word amazing and that’s why we wanted to share her photos with you. Take a look at her beautiful food compositios and let us know about your thoughts.
